Coconut Latte Recipe (Step-By-Step)

Making a coconut latte at home is easier than you might think, and you don't need fancy equipment to get it done. If you have an espresso machine, great, but if you don't, no worries— you can make a concentrated coffee using a French Press or just brew strong coffee.
Total Time 10 minutes

Equipment

  • Espresso machine (or a French press or strong brewed coffee as an alternative)
  • Milk frother (a handheld frother or even a mason jar works in a pinch)
  • A small saucepan (to heat the coconut milk)

Ingredients

  • 1 shot of espresso (or 1/3 cup of strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup of coconut milk (I personally love using Thai Kitchen Organic Coconut Milk—it's creamy and blends smoothly)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of your preferred sweetener (maple syrup is my favorite)
  • A dash of cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Brew your coffee or espresso: Make a single shot of espresso or about 1/3 cup of strong coffee if you're using an alternative method like a French press.
  • Heat the coconut milk: Pour your coconut milk into a small saucepan and heat it gently on the stove until it's warm but not boiling. You can also use a microwave if you're in a rush.
  • Froth the milk: Once the coconut milk is heated, use a milk frother to create foam. If you don't have one, pour the milk into a mason jar, seal it tight, and shake it vigorously for about 30 seconds.
  • Assemble the latte: Pour the espresso (or strong coffee) into your favorite mug, then slowly pour the warm and frothy coconut milk. Then add sweetener to taste and stir.
  • Add a personal touch: Here's my little secret—after assembling your latte, I like to sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top. It might sound odd, but it balances the sweetness and brings out the richness of the coconut and coffee flavors.
