Nutella Latte (Hot Version Recipe)

This recipe is simple to make and as easy to fall in love with. Below are the steps for the hot version, and if you're craving something chilled, the iced version is waiting for you right after.
Total Time 5 minutes

Equipment

  • Mug (go with your favorite—it deserves it)
  • Small saucepan or microwave-safe cup
  • Milk frother, French press, or whisk
  • Spoon (for mixing Nutella)
  • Espresso machine, moka pot, Aeropress, or coffee maker

Ingredients

  • 1–2 shots of espresso (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
  • 1½ tablespoons Nutella
  • ¾ cup milk (any kind: dairy or plant-based)
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, hazelnut syrup

Instructions

  • Step 1) Brew Your Coffee: First things first: brew your espresso or strong coffee. I like using a moka pot when I want that deep, bold flavor, but honestly, any strong brew works here. Just make sure it's hot enough to melt the Nutella in the next step.
  • Step 2) Heat and Froth the Milk: Warm your milk in a saucepan over low heat or microwave it for about 30–45 seconds. If you’ve got a frother, now’s the time to use it. No frother? No worries! Whisk it by hand or pump it a few times in a French press.
  • Step 3) Mix Nutella and Coffee: Spoon your Nutella into the bottom of a mug and pour your hot coffee right over it. Next, stir like you mean it until the Nutella is fully melted and mixed in. The result should already smell amazing.
  • Step 4) Add Milk and Top It Off: Pour your steamed milk over the Nutella-coffee blend. Then spoon some froth on top if you like that latte finish. You can add your whipped cream, sprinkle cocoa powder or shavings, maybe a drizzle of hazelnut syrup… or keep it simple. Either way, it’s delicious!

Notes

Unique Tip:

If you’re down to the last bit of Nutella in the jar, then don’t wash it out just yet. You can pour your hot coffee directly into the jar, give it a good stir, then add your warmed milk. It turns into a makeshift mocha cup and saves dishes.
