Coffee Vanilla Syrup (Step-By-Step Recipe)
A smooth, sweet vanilla syrup perfect for lattes, iced coffee, cold brew, and cappuccinos.
Total Time 15 minutes mins
Small Saucepan:
Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
Measuring cups
Measuring Spoons:
Knife (if using vanilla bean)
Fine mesh strainer (optional)
Glass jar or bottle with lid (for storage)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Step 1) Combine Water & Sugar: Pour 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar into a small saucepan.
Step 2) Heat Gently: Place over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves. Do not let it boil aggressively — a gentle simmer is enough.
Step 3) Add Vanilla: If using vanilla extract: Remove from heat and stir it in.If using a vanilla bean: Slice the bean lengthwise. Scrape the seeds into the syrup. Add the pod to the saucepan and let it simmer 5 extra minutes. Step 4) Cool: Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely. If you used a vanilla bean, strain the syrup or remove the pod before storing.
Step 5) Store: Pour into a clean glass jar or syrup bottle. Store in the refrigerator. Keeps fresh for 2–3 weeks
Pro Tips
- Use high-quality vanilla extract for better flavor
- Don’t overheat — boiling too long thickens it too much
- For thicker syrup, simmer an extra 2–3 minutes
- For richer flavor, let the vanilla bean steep overnight in the fridge
