Make Cold Brew With An Aeropress (Step-By-Step)

Follow these simple steps to enjoy a refreshing cold brew any time you want.

Equipment

  • AeroPress:
  • AeroPress Filters:
  • Coffee grinder (if using whole beans)
  • Measuring spoon or kitchen scale
  • Stirring tool
  • Cup or pitcher

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons (or 20 grams) of coarsely ground coffee
  • 1 cup (or 240 ml) of cold, filtered water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Aeropress: Insert a paper filter into the Aeropress cap and rinse it with water to remove any paper taste. Then assemble the Aeropress with the filter cap and place it on top of a sturdy cup or pitcher.
  • Grind the Coffee: If you’re using whole beans, grind them to a coarse consistency, similar to sea salt.
  • Add Coffee Grounds: Add 2 tablespoons (or 20 grams) of coarsely ground coffee into the Aeropress chamber.
  • Add Water: Pour 1 cup (or 240 ml) of cold, filtered water over the coffee grounds in the Aeropress. Ensure the water saturates all the coffee grounds evenly.
  • Stir: Use a stirring tool to stir the coffee and water mixture for about 10 seconds to ensure even extraction.
  • Steep: Let the coffee steep in the Aeropress for 1 to 2 minutes. This short steeping time helps create a concentrated cold brew.
  • Press: After steeping, attach the plunger to the Aeropress and slowly press down, applying steady pressure. This should take about 30 seconds. The brewed coffee will be pushed through the filter into your cup or pitcher.
  • Dilute and Serve: Your concentrated cold brew is now ready. Dilute it with additional cold water, milk, or a milk alternative to taste. Serve over ice for a refreshing cold brew coffee.
